The start. . .

We saw the first bit of work happen on the land on Thursday. Our excavator got the silt fence put up and cut in a little bit of driveway so the contractors have a place to park. It's raining this weekend, but hopefully things will dry up enough that they can dig out the basement on Monday. The block mason is going out of town Thursday, and wants to have the footers poured before he goes. Then he wants to start with the block when he gets back next Monday. We'll keep you updated.

It's time to blog again. Our dream is finally coming true! Work starts tomorrow on our new house. We've had a few holdups with weather and getting some things together, but we're finally ready to move. We'd like to be able to chronicle the events of our entire journey for all of you here. Honestly, however, we're not sure that either of us will have the time needed to keep up with it. We're going to do our best though. So, starting tomorrow, look for pics, videos, and updates over the next few months. HERE WE GO. . . . . . . !!!

Homesteading

It has been a long-time dream of ours to own some land and create our homestead. While browsing at real estate for fun two weeks ago, Jenny found some interesting things and we are now under contract for a beautiful parcel of land in Augusta County, VA!!! It's been a busy two weeks, and our current house is now on the market. We can start to build as soon as this one sells.

Little Reader!

Ashton finished his chart today from his Hooked on Phonics Kindergarten box. He's very proud of himself and earned some marbles for his marble run.

Puppets!

Quinn loves his puppets!
Kisses!
The 3 Little Pigs. For some reason Quinn always gets the pigs and Ashton gets the wolf.

Our Compassionate Obsetrician

Perhaps Ashton has a future in the baby-catching business. Here he is demonstrating a birth with my pelvic & fetal model from class.

Christmas Crafts 08

Ashton made chocolate-covered pretzel rods. We had a little trouble getting the chips to melt right. Better luck next year.
Well I don't know how to turn it, but here's Ashton working on our pinecone & acorn ornaments. We made penguins; the directions came from Martha Stewart magazine. It was quite fun!
We also made a lot of bath goodies--salts & fizz & bath bombs.
