It has been a long-time dream of ours to own some land and create our homestead. While browsing at real estate for fun two weeks ago, Jenny found some interesting things and we are now under contract for a beautiful parcel of land in Augusta County, VA!!! It's been a busy two weeks, and our current house is now on the market. We can start to build as soon as this one sells.

Sounds absolutely exciting. To be honest I wanted to be completely sure of what you meant about "homesteading" so I checked out wikapidia.
Are you planning on being completely self sufficent with food and goods? Because if you have your own sheep, and make your own wool, and you make your own pants and shirts...heck, I'll buy one! (not trying to be a jerk)

That's awesome, Jenny (and fam). How exciting. We have friends at church that purchased some land with a house already on it in Missouri and will be moving as soon as their house here sells to do the some thing. Very cool.
